Wood Door Construction Descriptions:
- PC/PC5: Particleboard Core
Perfect for your project is our PC (Particleboard core) solid wood door. Available in architectural grade 5-ply and builders grade for the more economical projects. Our 5-ply door is constructed using bonded core construction and the highest quality frame components. Our door facings used to make our PC/PC5 doors meet or exceed all industry specifications and standards. Available in a wide variety of veneer species and sizes the PC series wood door from MDI offers quality, performance and beauty without compromise.
- SCL-5: Structural Composite Lumber Core
Structural Composite Lumber (SCL) allows maximum flexibility and strength. SCL doors can be cut down without regard to stile and rail size limitations. SCL doors can also be used when white boards or clothing hooks need to be applied to one surface.
- MC: Fire Resistant (Mineral) Core Door
Each door is made using what we call mineral core. There is drywall with fiberglass within the mineral core material. These doors use specific stile and rail components. The higher the minute rating (45, 60, and 90) use slightly larger stile and rail components to help them achieve these higher ratings. The higher the minute rating indicates a smaller amount of visible glass. There are restrictions regarding lite kit sizes. Please contact your MDI sales rep for more information on available vision kits, glass and louver kits for use in fire doors.
- LL: Lead-Lined Bonded 5-Ply Door
When radiation protection is needed MDI has the solution with our lead lined door series. We offer 1/16″. 3/32″ and 1/8″ lead thicknesses based on your protection needs. You can pick any species and pre-finish color including plastic laminate and primed hardboard. Purchasing lead lined doors from MDI allows the entire order to ship with your frames and hardware without waiting for the lead lined wood doors to arrive from a different vendor.
- PLAM: Plastic Laminate Door
High Pressure Laminate opens a whole new way to look at “wood” doors. The end user gets exactly what they are looking for with none of the variations involved with wood. Plastic Laminate is available from Wilsonart, Pionite, Formica, Nevamar and Arborite. PLAM doors by MDI are supplied using a layer of High Density Fiberboard to prevent telegraphing. Edges can be matching laminate or stained / painted.
